Exploring a city’s culinary scene is one of the best ways to experience its culture. Pasadena, CA, has recently introduced a new culinary adventure centered around boba tea, a popular Taiwanese American drink.
For the uninitiated, boba tea (also known as bubble tea) is an iced beverage typically made with a tea base, milk or fruit flavoring, and chewy tapioca balls. This creamy and sweet drink is enjoyed for its unique taste and the novelty of being sipped through a large straw. Pasadena’s new boba trail, located along Route 66, features 30 establishments serving this delightful drink
Boba tea, which originated in the 1980s, arrived in the U.S. in the 1990s and became a staple in San Gabriel Valley communities, including Arcadia, and Pasadena.
The boba trail includes national chains, local boba chains, and smaller businesses like Miss Cheese Tea Cafe, 85c Bakery Cafe, 3Catea, Home Brewed Bar, Jin Tea Shop, and more.
